The Study Course in a nutshell

The two-year course of study in Management and Conservation of Digital Documents (LM 43) provides for the acquisition of 120 ECTS. In the two years there are 12 exams plus laboratory activities, compulsory internship and final exam. The qualification awarded is Master’s Degree in Management and Conservation of Digital Documents (LM 43). The course is the only Italian training course that prepares the professions as Head of document management, Head of the IT protocol, document flows and archives and Conservator of digital documents. The Degree Course includes a Steering Committee made up of Public Administrations (PA) and entrepreneurial subjects in order to make the training path more congruent with the demands of the labor market, also by signing multilateral partnerships (MSPs), joint initiatives that they bring together organizations from the education and training sector with industry associations and employers from the public and private sector who take on some responsibilities that traditionally were the responsibility of universities in the construction of training courses.

The graduate will be able to carry out the functions of head of document management in the various sectors of the PA, with particular attention to the central PA, health and justice. He will also be able to perform the functions of digital documents conservator both as head of the service in the PA, and as manager, in various capacities, of the various functions envisaged for accredited conservatories, or those who perform – subject to accreditation – activities by delegation of the administrations that outsource the service.

Knowledge required for access

To be admitted to the master’s degree program in Management and Conservation of Digital Documents (LM 43) you must:

– or be in possession of a three-year degree in one of the following classes: L-1 Cultural heritage; L-5 Philosophy; L-10 Letters; L-11 Modern languages ​​and cultures; L-19 Education and training sciences; L-42 History; L-20 Communication Sciences; L-14 Legal services sciences; L-16 Administration and Organization Sciences; L-36 Political sciences and international relations; L-8 Information engineering; L-31 Information sciences and technologies;

– or, to be in possession of any three-year degree having acquired at least 54 CFU in the complex of sectors INF / 01, ING-INF / 05, L-LIN / 04, L-LIN / 05, L-LIN / 14, L -LIN / 12, L-LIN01, M-PED / 03, M-PED / 04, M-STO / 02, M-STO / 04, M-STO / 08, IUS / 01, SPS / 08, SPS / 11 , SPS / 10 of which at least 18 in the SSD INF / 01, ING-INF / 05, M-STO / 08, L-LIN / 12;

– or, to be in possession of another qualification obtained abroad, recognized as suitable.

For access to the course of study, an adequate command of written Italian and a sufficient knowledge of English is required.

The skills and knowledge that allow optimal access to the course of study are as follows:

writing skills in Italian;
knowledge of the English language;
general culture and basic humanistic, legal or economic training;
basic computer skills.

The training course will be carried out in the form of frontal courses, laboratory activities, seminars and traineeships. Laboratories equipped for carrying out educational activities and virtual spaces for distance learning will be made available to students, with online communication between students and teachers.

Educational objectives

The graduate, starting from humanistic, economic or legal skills, will be able to:

acquire the theoretical, methodological and technical tools for the management and conservation of digital objects;

acquire the basic elements of the legal regulation on the treatment, conservation and use of digital objects and related technologies;

tackle complex knowledge representation problems using appropriate analysis tools;

addressing complex problems related to the training, management and storage of digital documents;

speak fluently in English.

In accordance with the two outgoing professional figures or Head of document management systems pursuant to art. 60 of Presidential Decree 445/2000 and Conservator of digital documents “pursuant to art. 44 of Legislative Decree 82/2005 the graduate must, at the end of the course of study, be able to correctly evaluate the needs and needs of document management of an administration, an institution or a company as well as to wait for the organization and management of all activities related to the security and integrity of the systems, the management of the protocol, the retrieval of information, access and correct organization of documents within the classification system adopted. It must also be able to prepare, in Italian and English, all the supporting and accompanying documentation necessary for its own management or the outsourcing of services connected with the documentary activities, correctly assessing the risks and benefits in relation to the purposes of the organization in which it operates.

Final test

The final test consists of a written paper that can also be made up of the final report of the training activity. At the end of the study path, an internship at a company, an institution or a research or service center that allows you to put the acquired skills into practice is mandatory.
